Rescue Garden features succulents that Rachel has gathered as cuttings and rootstock throughout Northern California. The plants survived in poor environments, but now thrive in her garden at home.
The painting also served as an exercise to ground Rachel artistically. Four years ago she survived a horrific automobile accident that left her in a coma for five weeks. Her traumatic brain injury recovery has been long and arduous, but very rewarding. Prior to the accident she was on track to earn her PhD in Civil Engineering, but her recent life experiences have helped refine her new future – art. She has used the creation of this painting to harken back to her formal art education, focusing on composition, seeing detail, and respecting each component. Each plant has its unique personality and is allowed to shine on its own.
Rescue Garden is available for purchase as an 30″ x 48″ giclee print of the original arcylic artwork, select the button below to learn more.
